Effects of Deforestation

Alisha Benedict

The article I have picked for this weeks blog would be about the effects of deforestation has on the environment. Deforestation is the clearing, destroying, or otherwise removal of trees through deliberate, natural or accidental means. Places where deforestation may occur the area is populated by trees and other plant life The majority of it is currently happening in the Amazon rainforest. Deforestation threatens the animals by taking their shelter and the ability to regulate temperature. Which brings up my next topic on how deforestation results in the lack of trees also allows a greater amount of greenhouse gases to be released into the atmosphere. The trees also help control the level of water in the atmosphere by helping to regulate the water cycle. Deforestation causes dryer soil and the inability to grow crops. After reading the article placed below, it made me began to think about the many different species effected by deforestation and how much of a negative impact it has on the environment.

  1. I really appreciated how you were present a first topic and then how you switch on to another topic but stay in the same general domain. Otherwise, I don't have anything bad to say about this text.

  2. Good picture! Yes, so much deforestation in the Amazon. We have improved our forests in the US, though part of this is because we import wood and beef from places like Brazil. We're still linked to the problem!
