Food and Agriculture Scientist
A food scientist studies the good and bad from processing foods by using microbiology, engineering, and chemistry. The nutrition is looked at through seeing how the products coming a long and how it will be processed. They look for new nutritional food sources and investigate avenues for making processed foods taste good, safe, and healthy. On top of making sure the food is healthy and good enough to be put out on shelfs they try and find the best ways to sell. They look at the view points from shoppers and they also try and find ways to preserve food that might be out for a long period of time. The scientist help the farmers out a lot by figuring out ways to get there products distributed.
I think this is nothing that really is surprising to me that they do this. Almost everything we eat was not in it's original size or presentation it was in the past/beginning or it never even existed and they made the food from a lab. It's always very interesting to hear about how they are changing our foods that are not supposed to be changed such as the veggies and fruits we eat now. But hey if they can help strawberries last more than four days in the fridge by all means do so as long as it's a safe way lol.
ReplyDeleteI think people such as food and agriculture scientists are such an important people. It is a known fact there are such chemicals and GMOS in our food nowadays so it is such a reassuring them to know that someone at least looks into the food before it gets distributed to stores and restaurants. I also think the preservation of foods is also a really cool thing because some food does rot really quickly even if its being refrigerated.
