Lead in water
Teagan Lovin
In the article “Health Effects of Exposure to Lead in Drinking Water” it talks about how there is led in the water and who it will effect. Children and infants are at greater risk than adults when it comes to drinking water with lead in it. Children are more likely to die from it. Lead can damage the child’s central and peripheral nervous system, which could cause learning disabilities and other major effects. All children are at this risk of getting exposed to lead in their water just by house supplies. Not only are children at a great risk but also pregnant women, it’s not necessarily the women at risk but the fetus is. If a pregnant woman drinks the water with lead in, it it could cause death to the fetus. This is why we need to care about water we drink and help get ride of water pollution so we don’t put our children at more risk than we already have.
I really enjoyed your blog! I think people need to be more informed about the dangerous of lead contaminated water because it is such a big deal. Especially since we are always drinking water and never really know what is in it. I think the information regrading the children’s health and learning development really helped drive the importance of this article; as well as the information about the fetus in a pregnant woman’s stomach. I also liked your end statement; I think it is so important we get a handle on this situation before more kids are at risk as a world’s population grows.
