Missouri River issues
At the moment the Missouri River and its natural water sheds are in trouble because of fish and wildlife destruction, sediment and pollution, invasive species, wetland and grassland loss and then conflicts happening over river management. The Missouri River alone provides millions of people drinkable water and environments for fish and wildlife to live in. Three of the fish and wildlife species have been put on the Federal Threatened and Endangered Species list. There is some chance, the league believes that if we can help the river that we can save these endangered species.

The Missouri River environment problems are going to affect people because this river provides millions of people drinkable water. Hopefully the fish species that are endangered can recover. When someone is doing wildlife destruction, sediment and pollution they should consider the species that live in the environment.
ReplyDeleteI think your post is good and interesting to read about. It is interesting to think about the Missouri River because in KC I have to drive over it all of the time. The common thing to hear from people is "Oh the river looks so low" and most of the time it does look low. It is also interesting to think that the water being so low is affecting the population that's in that water.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know that the river provided so much drinkable water for the people. If there is a way to protect this river and the species who are living in it, we should do so. Great post!
ReplyDeleteWow to hear how much we actually use the river and to hear how mistreated it is in the same story is revolting it provides so many with drinking water why arent we doing more to help it instead of polluting the very water we drink i hope we can save this river before its to late
ReplyDeleteI'm not from Missouri but I never knew this river provided so much water to so many people. It is sad to hear fish are being endangered and the river is at risk. Hopefully someone finds a solution to help fix this. Great post !
ReplyDeleteThose blue and orange wristbands I wear are from a group that promotes better use of the Mo River--they have a 100 mile canoe trip in Sept., to get people in touch with the river. paddlemo.org
