Protecting Public Land

 Hannah Bailey

Our lands are used for numerous amount of things. Here’s a list to name a few, farming, mining, living(cities/counties), military usage, energy production, etc. All of these things are used to benefit something. It is important to have land to create food to eat, create energy to power our homes, and to train our military to protect our country. In doing these things, its destroying our beloved lands. These activities are essential to our survival so how do we begin to try to not do these tings? The answer isnt to stop, it is to find new ways to do these activities that refrain from harming the planet. The National Wildlife Federation is an organization that wants to protect our beloved land. One of their campaign’s is “reforming oil and gas development on public lands” in which they try to find different ways to have these things in order for energy to continue while protecting these lands. This specific organization isnt global like my previous blogs, this is specifically referring to American public lands that may have underlying heritage. They mention on specifically to “strengthen protection for fish, wildlife, and water resources”. Even though this organization is specifically to America, it is a good organization for other groups to strive to be like. Anything to benefit nature is better then nothing.

  1. I think this is a good organization because protecting our land and the wildlife on it is a very important topic because we have to have land to help protect all the other environmental factors
