Successful Farming- Ashley Ritter
When looking through all of the different agricultre websites Successful Farming popped up and it had a lot of very interesting stats and articles. One that popped out the most to me was a drought happening in the Dakotas. Over the past week the Dakotas and other states up north have not been getting the right amount of water to keep producing and getting the farms started up for the season. This drought has caused many farmers to hv a deal in start up and has put a complete hauls on some. This drought has been the worst one they have seen in 126 year and the span from January to March they had not receive any rain. In the start on April they had received lots of snow fall and had the possibility of the fields freezing over and this would have also caused a delay in start for the farmers. With all of this happening the farmers are now frantic trying to figure out their productions for this season and how they are going to provide for their different distributers.

That is so sad to hear about and with the farmers not being able to have water available, what else can they do. Farmers have to make a living for their families. Good post, enjoyed readng.
ReplyDeleteIt honestly surprises me how the states up north are getting little rain why we are drowning with rain here in Missouri. A lot of crop production comes from those states up north so when they are having issues starting up it is not a good thing. Hopefully the rain starts to come to help those farmers with production, it would be a hard financial lost to them if they can not hit their production numbers. Now we just have to hope that Missouri crops do not drown in the amount of rainfall we get.

And Missouri has disputes with some of those upriver people, who have dammed the Mo River, and sometimes take out more than we are happy about
