Toxic gasses
Our water that we drink and use for everything in our life has been polluted by gasses. One of those gasses is nitrogen. Nitrogen is put in the water by fertilizers that we use to grow our plants. This nitrogen suffocates animals that live in the water and also polluted the water that we drink making it undrinkable. Another problem is that we have too little oxygen in our water due to pollution taking away the oxygen. The lack oxygen in the water causes for fires on the water. There is a concept call BOD which measure the oxygen levels in the water, and the BOD has gone down in oxygen levels in the water drastically over the past couple years due to increase pollution in the water.

Teagan,
ReplyDeleteI wonder what can be done about the nitrogen levels in our water. Is there a way to prevent contamination? Is there a way to reverse it? Toxic gases is a very scary topic that goes overlooked everyday and not just in terms of water. Farmers have been infecting our food and oxygen with not only pesticides but Carbon dioxide and methane. I feel like it's such a normal thing in society these days that you'd expect a lot more regulations to be in place than there actually is.
Yes, I have friends in Decatur IL, and their town's water has been undrinkable for years, due to ag run-off
