What is the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services about?

                          What is the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services about?

Nicole Price

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services' purpose is to work with others to enhance, protect, and conserve fish, plants,  wildlife, and their habitats for the continual benefit of the American people. They're the only agency in the federal government working on conservation for the benefit of the people. The fish and wildlife services also happen to be one the oldest programs to focus on natural resource conservation. They are responsible for implementing some of the U.S.'s biggest environmental laws, the migratory bird treaty, and the endangered species act to name a few. These responsibilities are obtained via a number of different activities, offices, and programs that work to:

  •  Help fulfill our government's federal tribal trust responsibility;
  • Recover and/or protect threatened species;
  • Restore important fisheries;
  • Help foreign countries via international conservation efforts;
  • Regulate international wildlife laws and federal wildlife laws;
  • Conserve and restore wetlands and other fish/wildlife habitats

Their services date back all the way back to 1871.

  1. I think that it is very interesting how much work we put in to helping save and protect our animals and we still can't protect them all the way. I think that its very interesting all of these different work places have jobs to help protect and they all have some from of safety for these animals.
