Agriculture in Early Years

When trying to find information about agriculture I looked up the effects it had on food. The National Geographic had an article titled “Agriculture”, When reading through the article I found that today's society and civilization has been formed by the bringing up of agriculture and food. In earlier years Native Americans and Settlers had to hunt, grow, and risk their lives to get food. When the beginning of farming began rice and corn were two of the main crops being farmed and then later more was developed and the earth's population became more dependent on agriculture. Scholars at many schools believe that this happened because of climate change. Once more development happened on farming crops people started to domesticate animals for certain tasks and they were also able to start herding animals to get more production out of them. The first animals that were domesticated were dogs and later cows and sheep, this happened because the dogs would help their owners hunt for other animals. Once they found other animals they could then domesticate them and use those animals for other needs.

  2. It's crazy to think that we have made so much progression as well as digression within the world of agriculture. I found it really interesting how you incorporated animals within your search because they do have such an impact within the world of agriculture. Your touch on climate changes and its effects on agriculture is what intrigued me the most though. The growth within the food market has been a quick one, and that is due to the large rise in demand. The shifts within agriculture all follow this idea of supply and demand. You mentioned the birth of animal domestication, this was brought on by the climb in demand, we humans could simply not keep up with the demand for food on our own so we turned to the next best thing. Hunting and gathering has been around for years and even today we have designated farmers who provide the rest of us with food and it's interesting to see how it has changed yet stayed the same throughout the years

  3. And I enjoy learning about early ag and domestication. I still think dogs are the companions that shaped us into being human. Our longest partners.
