Climate Change Indicators: Oceans
Rasmus Svensson
The oceans cover 70% of the earth. The ocean's produces more than 50% of the earth oxygen and also absorbs carbon dioxide 50 times more than the atmosphere. It has a direct influence on the weather. By absorbing more heat that he should be able to handle, it causes the sea to rise. In these recent years the sea has rises more and more, every year it increases more than an inch per decade. Temperature changes in the ocean cause by the climate change will cause some variations in the weather all around the world which could also lead to stronger storms. All the living creature in the ocean will also be impacted by the absorption of carbon dioxide, so that means that the ocean becomes more acidic, so it becomes more difficult to live for some species which explain all the extinct animal in the water.
This was a very informative post, Rasmus, I think you did a good job talking about the key points. I had no idea that the ocean produced more than 50% of the earths oxygen or even that it absorbs the carbon dioxide. I think the rise in the oceans water supply will soon lead to a lot of devastation around the globe. It will eventually be too much and destroy the land and homes it surrounds. Reading the article you shared I found it pretty interesting that the lack of certain minerals, the animals can not produce their shell, that there shows how much acid is just laying in our oceans. A lot of our marine life have shells for protection and without them they will become extinct. Oceans hold the most beautiful creatures and because of our selfishness to pollute it so much, they are no longer going to exist.

I really enjoyed the ocean picture that you included into the blog. I think the information about how temperature in the ocean or in general is always effected by climate change was a really good piece of information to have. I don’t think people are always thinking about how climate change effects more than what we can see from one perspective. By this I mean when you talked about how the carbon dioxide levels will increase in the ocean making it harder for the sea life to actually be able to dwell in their habitat because of the acidity and toxic waste.
