Can’t ignore global crisis.

Image
Having to deal with the COVID-19 outbreak the food has been impacted big time.  They way kids can go through weeks of going hungry they can die of malnutrition. Like more than they were even that hopefully before 2030 they might be a bigger chance such as 50.5 million little lives under the age of five going to die of malnutrition. Another thing in this global crisis can be refugees, around roughly 80,000,000 people were having no choice but to be taken away from their home or being just kicked out of somewhere. And most of them are under the age of 18, and some people such as Hispanics and other foreign countries they have to be taken away from their people or if they lose access to education and they have to be put into it some type of orphanage so we can have a better life with some other families. Or some of them have to be married early.  https://www.wvi.org/

Acid rain

Image
Ahram Solis EPA says, “Acid rain is caused by a chemical reaction that begins when compounds like sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides are released into the air.” These chemicals mix into our atmosphere, which causes the damaging rain called “acid rain”. Two ways that sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides get into clouds are from power plants releasing these chemicals into the air or into near by lakes. The rain can make the environment for wildlife toxic to live in and can also cause them to die. It can always be bad for our body if anyone’s outside during an acid rain and ruin crops. We can decrease the chances of acid rain showing up by stopping the usage green house gases. https://www3.epa.gov/acidrain/education/site_students/whatcauses.html

California lack of water

Image
Although it is not been posted all over social media and news stations California is at a water crisis of fresh/clean tap available. Contaminants such as arsenic, nitrates and 123-TCP are in 215,000 water service connections across the state of California and is a violation. 1 million people in California are being warned about this tap water contamination issue but way more are at risk, in the article it stated that 4 million people are at risk of contamination. Considering only around 40 million people live in California this is a huge issue.  https://neverthirstinc.org/keep-cali-flowing?gclid=CjwKCAjwmv-DBhAMEiwA7xYrdzn2uoZ5U0rOUsl4zxoWN0rzVhV63yhzbmgnv_2dxbnvnJmebYibMBoC6xYQAvD_BwE

Pros and Cons of Geothermal Energy

Image
Carliss Howell: Pros and Cons of Geothermal Energy      For my final blog post, I wanted to make a full circle and by talking geothermal energy and the pros and cons of this source of energy I feel like I can do so. To recap, Geothermal Energy is built on the basis of Earth’s heat. It is energy that is said to be contained in rocks and fluids beneath the Earth’s crust. There are many pros to this type of energy those being that it is a reliable source of power, small land footprint , and usable for large and small scale installations. It is reliable because it is a very predictable source of energy. It will have a constant power output no matter the time of day or season. By small land footprint I mean is that building these last wont require a lot of land surface because the energy comes from the earth. Finally, large scale and small scale applications basically means that both large and small plants are able to use geothermal energy (commercial and residential). J...

"GENEROSITY"

Image
Rasmus Svensson  GENEROSITY.ORG For this last blog post I was planning on talking about an organization that help to provide clean water. Their big statement is "A SMALL ACT OF GENEROSITY NOW CHANGES A LIFE FOREVER". In 2020 there was 844 million still lacking clean water throughout. Their mission is to end poverty by giving them clean water and to give them new opportunities to do something special with their life. Their trying to make their life longer in a lot of different countries. You can choose to donate to one person, to one couple, to one family or to one village depending on how much you are willing to pay. Generosity.org values are integrity, honesty, accountability, and transparency. Their mission is to not only help with water access but also  with Sanitation, Medical Aid, Education, Family Support, Mentorship, Economic Development, Legal Assistance, Disaster Relief https://generosity.org/

What is extinction?

Image
https://www.nationalgeographic.org/encyclopedia/extinction/ Nicole Price I decided to make my last blog post, here today, about extinction and what it is.  Extinction is defined as ‘the dying out of a species’. It plays a very important, yet detrimental role in evolution. While extinction is not necessarily good it’s not entirely bad either. It happens a lot more than you’d think.  The number of declining species is constant. Meaning that we are losing an average number of species to extinction every year, century, and millennium. This helps drive evolution because the end of one species is the beginning of another. When done correctly extinction can make room for a newer, more evolved species. But the part that’s worrisome is the increasing number of mass extinctions that we are facing more and more everyday. Massive extinction is when a large number of a species dies out in a relatively short amount of time. These extinctions generally have a variety of different causes that...

Land Loss

Image
Hannah Bailey  There have been posts about sea levels rising however its not just affecting the sea. The water rising is also affecting the land. There is always the conspiracy that Florida will be fully submerged. It is stated on “the travel” page that Florida could be submerged as soon as 2050. This means that section of land will become apart of the sea life ecosystem. All of the oil preserves, the towns, even maybe cars would be submerged and begin to add more pollution to the ocean. This would require the citizens on Florida to have to reside elsewhere. Around 20 square mile of land has been consumed by sea levels rising. That is equivalent to 9,680 football fields of land gone. The image shown is a demonstration of what Florida will begin to look like if we dont take action fast. It is imperative that we save Florida for the citizens, land history, and for the oceans sake.  https://www.thetravel.com/florida-underwater-soon-stats/ https://coast.noaa.gov/digitalcoast...

Brazilian Speaks Up

Image
Jessica Seaton-   A Brazilian leader spoke up about us killing the earth and people participating in deforestation in the Amazon. We are ruining forest by logging, the rivers are drying up, the forest is warmer, animals and plants are going extinct. The young man thought of ways to get our forest and our food back by planting 2 million trees in the forest. He plans to plant 10 million more trees to prove that we can create sustainable situation without harming the earth.  The leader talked about ways to solve the problem of our cutting down of trees. He is trying to make a difference and teach the younger generation how to save the earth instead of bringing more harm to it and to protect our future. He had a valid argument that our government needs to respect nature more instead of being the ones to kill it, I could not agree more.    https://time.com/5676877/indigenous-leader-amazon-brazil/

Conservation- the last one

Image
Instead of talking about what other people are doing I’m going to talk about what I have been doing since I was five years old on our family farm. Instead of waiting for changes to happen for us we help it happen at a faster rate. For example, we help wildlife flourish by growing and making homemade habitats for the deer specifically on our land. We also plant food plots so they are well fed if they run out of the natural resource for the season. Some seasons are better than others but my dad and I plan for the worst, sometimes spending a whole lot of extra money to make sure that all other animals eat too. We make the food plots for deer, squirrels, turkeys, raccoons, and even bobcats. The other thing we do is controlled burns so we can “reset” the field for harvest. Even if we don’t use the field for harvesting food we then plant crab grass so there can be natural camouflage for the deer and turkey that hangout in the field. We have gotten it down to such a science that we purposely ...

Marine Conservation

Image
Marine Conservation  is the protection and preservation of ecosystems in oceans and seas.    Marine Conservation is the  focus on trying to protect marine ecosystems due to human-caused damage. Marine conservation is also focused on trying to have the sea and ocean life restored to keep animals from dying off. This article explains how sea lions, whales, dolphins, etc are becoming extinct due to over usage of human activity over the years.  https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2021/03/210325150153.htm

Coal Miners looking for jobs in renewable energy!

Image
The largest coal miner union in the United States has recognized that their former way of employment is going to die soon and are wanting the media outlets to know that there are wanting jobs in the renewable energy force as soon as possible I think this is good because what there doing in those coal miners are doing hard work they are smart and realizing that this field is dying and they want these high paying jobs for work they've been doing the same style of for yours. The president of the Union said we are taking good high paying jobs where we can get them!  https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2021/04/coal-miners-union-lobbies-for-jobs-in-renewable-energy/

Agriculture is Best

Image
Farming produce the majority of the food that the world intakes and there is a lot of people out there that don't realize that. When reading through the facts and nutrimental ingredients you can never tell what farm had grown the food or it was even farm grown. This causes some people to think about the work that farmers are doing and if they are really getting credited for what they are producing. Small farm owners are able to get their products out there just like the bigger farms but they still have the competition of industrial farming. For example when you go to Florida you see tons of orange fields, some of those fields might be local grown but most of them are apart of a big production. Not singling out anything about smaller or bigger farms but these two have to be able to work together to be able to feed 330 million people and keeping production going will keep the world fed.

Pollution in the water

Image
Teagan Lovin  4/19/2021  Nutrient  pollution   Nutrient pollution is one of the costly challenges when it comes to pollution in water. Nutrient pollution is  caused by excess nitrogen and phosphorus in the water. Nitrogen and phosphorus are already in the water naturally, they help produce algae and aquatic plants which provide food to other animals. When there is excess though this causes over production of those plants. This causes harm to the water quality due to the over production. It also takes from the oxygen supply for the fish that live in these bodies of water causing them to die off.  https://www.epa.gov/nutrientpollution/issue

Land Use

Image
Land Use is becoming a big problem in our world today due to construction of buildings, industrial parks, and bigger facilities being made. People don't seem to realize that this is affecting quantity and quality of drinking water, and habitats of animals. Even the EPA program is concerned for our future. Our environmental and human health is at risk if we don't find better solutions on how to manage Land use.  https://www.epa.gov/report-environment/land-use

Food crisis

Image
North Korea has been going into a food crisis such as food shortages which is very concerning because in this article it states that there was barely any food going on or passed out to either of the good families with the poor families which is a very bad thing. And they’re begging for food even though they’re not in the best state for having food, and it has been really tough for them to even get food because of the North Korea’s leader Kim Jong-un he’s basically taking a vantage of the COVID-19 because he has firm stance about having power. Even though that they are the most strictest country to ever have handle the COVID-19 because they have barely 19 infections. And they have reduced her imports of having any food shipped to them or any type of medicine this had happened in later 2018. They have been rejected every single time and they have requested any type of food to the government because the government has been smuggling illegal substances or essentials. But they don’t ha...

Hydrogen car

Image
Ahram Solis  Hydrogen cars are better than gasoline car s because they’re 100% emission free. Hydrogen fuel cells run off pressurized hydrogen and the cars aren’t that expensive. Each car usually carries 6kg, which is 400 miles in one fill up. The reason people aren’t driving these vehicles is because it usually cost $80 to fill a tank and there there’s only like 5 states who have hydrogen fuel cell stations. The California  government is willing to invest in this fuel option and they’re going to try to make add stations in California by 2025. This could make a change on how we transport; however, hydrogen cars have to become more convenient to appeal to people. https://www.edmunds.com/fuel-economy/8-things-you-need-to-know-about-hydrogen-fuel-cell-cars.html

Missouri River issues

Image
At the moment the Missouri River and its natural water sheds are in trouble because of fish and wildlife destruction, sediment and pollution, invasive species, wetland and grassland loss and then conflicts happening over river management. The Missouri River alone provides millions of people drinkable water and environments for fish and wildlife to live in. Three of the fish and wildlife species have been put on the Federal Threatened and Endangered Species list. There is some chance, the league believes that if we can help the river that we can save these endangered species. https://www.iwla.org/water/regional/missouri-river#:~:text=Unfortunately%2C%20the%20Missouri%20River%20and,problems%20involving%20sediment%20and%20pollution

Successful Farming- Ashley Ritter

Image
When looking through all of the different agricultre websites Successful Farming popped up and it had a lot of very interesting stats and articles. One that popped out the most to me was a drought happening in the Dakotas. Over the past week the Dakotas and other states up north have not been getting the right amount of water to keep producing and getting the farms started up for the season. This drought has caused many farmers to hv a deal in start up and has put a complete hauls on some. This drought has been the worst one they have seen in 126 year and the span from January to March they had not receive any rain. In the start on April they had received lots of snow fall and had the possibility of the fields freezing over and this would have also caused a delay in start for the farmers. With all of this happening the farmers are now frantic trying to figure out their productions for this season and how they are going to provide for their different distributers.  https://www...

Soil Contamination

Image
Jessica Seaton- A lot of different chemicals get into our soil and contaminate it. As the article says, “…since soil is the “earth’s kidney,””     soil is very important for us to take care of and not contaminate.     Common contaminates are pesticides, petroleum products, lead and creosote, these are usually from industrial sites, from spraying chemicals on the yard or just human activities. The biggest risk of soil contamination are in urban areas due to human activities like dumping, land development, and local waste. Once the soil is contaminated, it becomes a risk to us humans and a possible risk to our water supply. Based on the type of soil that is contaminated, different things can occur. Contaminates in sand may reach groundwater easier than clay would. In clay soil, it can hold the contaminates tightly and accumulate if left untouched. If this is not controlled, it can contaminate our food and our water supply.       https://www....

Water pollution

Image
Rasmus Svensson  Water pollution  I'm aware that I have already done a post about this topic earlier this year but I wanted to present it more in details this time. A lot of our rivers, lakes, reservoirs and seas are mix with chemicals, waste ,plastic, etc...  Water is only vulnerable to pollution, water is able to dissolve more than any other liquid in this world. Toxic chemicals comes from farms, towns, factories which is mix with water. That's where water pollution comes from. There are several type of categories of water pollution like groundwater, surface water, ocean water, point source, non point source, trans boundary. The most common type of water contamination are agricultural, sewage and wastewater, oil pollution, radioactive substances. Because of all these contimated  places it's affect directly human health. In 2015 water pollution killed 1.8billion persons and every year 1billion people get sick of it. And of course the environment and animals suf...

Alternative fossil fuels

Carliss Howell: Alternative Fossil Fuels      After doing research and looking into information about the positive and negative of fossil fuels. I decided to target this blog post on different alternatives energy sources to fossil fuels. It is no surprise that fossil fuels have transformed our world over the years. This had been a very important key factor during the Industrial Revolution. However, over the years, the Co2 levels and other greenhouses gases have increased and are destroying our air quality. That is why in 2016, world leaders all joined a mission to take a stance against climate change; this agreement was called the Paris Agreement. Each country was tasked with attempting to reduce the amount of emissions in order to keep the rise in global average temperatures below 2 degrees celsius.   To understand this agreement, I looked into some different alternative energy sources for fossil fuels. The first source is elephant grass. Before I explain the...

Animals hanging on by a thread

Image
Gorillas, Rhinos, and Sea Turtles. All of these animals are needed in the animal kingdom and will be missed if they fail to come back. If we can not keep animals in the kingdom to begin with then other animals will be sure to follow. Gorillas share 98.3% of our DNA and we only have roughly 150 to 180 adults left. We must note that they only reproduce three to four times in there lifetime which is considered low.  Javan Rhinos in particular only have 46 to 66 left in all the world. All of these are in National parks or which is disgraceful at best.  Sea Turtles has officially made it to the Red list. That means this animal and most of its types will either be saved now or it will be lost forever. For some ungodly reason the sea turtle is still hunted for its goods to be sold on the black market. Most of the turtle is valuable in some way shape or form but there is no excuse to run it to the point of extinction. https://onekindplanet.org/top-10/top-10-worlds-most-endangere...

What you can do to help?

Image
https://awionline.org/content/what-you-can-do-wildlife What you can do to help? Nicole Price      I've noticed that I've spent a lot more time talking about conservation groups and what they do and why wildlife conservation is so important, and not a lot of time on how YOU can help. So I decided to take today's time to educate you all on ways that you can help preserve wildlife. Stand up for the wild and wildlife: Your voice matters!    Make your backyard wildlife-friendly:  Turn your backyard into a safe place for butterflies and birds. All it takes is planting a few native plants or even just inserting a birdbath or feeder!  Reduce light pollution Look into container gardens for patios or balconies Reduce the amount of lawn Protect the environment  Be an educated consumer: Know what you are consuming! That goes for food and other consumer products such as clothes and equipment. Support genuine efforts.          ...

Clean Energy Provided by Dirty Labor

Image
In June of 1979 Former President, jimmy carter planted 32 solar panels on the roof of the Whitehouse to help heat the mansion 42 years later and the panels are long gone however solar isn't seen as quirky anymore and Current president Joe Biden has released a 2$ trillion-dollar energy plan the only issue is that due to almost slave labor china can make the same panels for much cheaper whilst the US initially dominated the Chinese market in XianPing Controls the Market almost entirely now with the Chinese products being even cheaper in the European Market  Jenny Chase, the head of solar analysis at BloombergNEF, told  Politico . Companies and families eager to do their part for the environment are realizing that their solar panels may be the fruit of forced labor. I'm interested to see how the US will try to compete against the Dirty tactics of the Chinese.  https://foreignpolicy.com/2021/04/12/clean-energy-china-xinjiang-uyghur-labor/

Water pollution affect on aquatic animals

Image
Teagan Lovin   4/11/2021  Water pollution affect on aquatic animals Our water has pollution such as trash and poisoned gasses. The pollution makes it hard for animals in the water to get away from predators easier. Therefore killing these types of animals off faster. Another topic the article talks about how the runoff of human females urine causes for gender issues with fish in the water. Thus meaning that there are being less and less males of these fish species. Which in the end causes for there to be less reproduction. These are just a few examples of what water pollution is doing to the aquatic life. We can help make changes to save these animals. https://www.sustainability-times.com/environmental-protection/pollution-affects-animals-behavior-in-our-rivers/

Protecting Public Land

Image
Hannah Bailey  Our lands are used for numerous amount of things. Here’s a list to name a few, farming, mining, living(cities/counties), military usage, energy production, etc. All of these things are used to benefit something. It is important to have land to create food to eat, create energy to power our homes, and to train our military to protect our country. In doing these things, its destroying our beloved lands. These activities are essential to our survival so how do we begin to try to not do these tings? The answer isnt to stop, it is to find new ways to do these activities that refrain from harming the planet. The National Wildlife Federation is an organization that wants to protect our beloved land. One of their campaign’s is “reforming oil and gas development on public lands” in which they try to find different ways to have these things in order for energy to continue while protecting these lands. This specific organization isnt global like my previous blogs, this is...

Food damage

Image
There is a thing called the “food temperature danger zone” which is my first time hearing about it. Food temperature danger zone is why Most people like to go with this because maintaining any type of food temperature is important which is key can be tied to a simple dish a simple piece of food but just keep it at the right temperature is safe and allows to be like got a good mentor not mental but they can keep your health like in a good point in life like you can do you have to be super healthy but it’s better for you at the end of the day. Such as people have restaurants it’s important for them and it’s a big responsibility four Chestnut run something like that, and what is the temperature danger zone. The footage is on can be to 40°F through 140 Fahrenheit, and it says on the website that it’s room temperature food it’s been around for too long they basically bacteria can be growing and it will be harmful and dangerous to the public that is the food danger zone. There’s three d...

Recycling

Image
Recycling has had a lot of success when it comes to conservation. The government has been constantly  insisting that everyone recycling is doing more good towards the earth than what we think. The impact  recycling  has includes saving trees and the natural lands. Now if we didn't recycle like we are today than the earth would have more landfills. I personally hate seeing this earth filled with trash especially on beaches because why let beautiful things like that be filled with waste. Recycling reduces environmental damage, risks of air and water pollution from manufacturing processes. So it is very important for us individuals to try our best to recycle more and litter less.  https://www.kcma.org/consumers/recycling-conservation#:~:text=Most%20Americans%20know%20that%20recycling,ultimately%20helps%20control%20global%20warming.

Hydropower

Image
Hydropower is the use of water to make mechanical energy. Some of they earliest forms of this where just small buildings with A large wooden attached to it that sits in a stream. When the stream moves it rotates the wheel and that moves gears in the building. A lot of the modern forms of this are dams. This larger dams are used to power some city’s. Hydropower is one of the main sources of renewable energy in the United States. One of the largest one of these dams is the Hoover dam. https://www.eia.gov/energyexplained/hydropower/

Nuclear Fusion Power

Image
Carliss Howell : Nuclear Fusion Power Nuclear fusion power can be considered to be an inexhaustible source of energy. Most natural fusion powers are created from the sun and stars. Harnessing this type of energy can be looked at as mission impossible because of the actual requirements it would take to make this energy sustainable. The temperature to create this fusion needs to be close to 100 million Kelvin and the hydrogen ions need to move at higher speeds and create pressure high enough to bring those said ions close enough to create energy.   The sun creates the right conditions for natural fusion due to the gravitational forces; but the Earth doesn’t have this luxury. The earth would need a basic type of fusion; D-T fusion which is basically two isotypes of hydrogen; the D standing for deuterium and the T standing for tritium. There are two challenges with trying to produce this.   The first would be being able to achieve the correct rate of heat that woul...

Toxic Water Pollution in Florida

Image
I knew what my post was going to be when I kept seeing all over the news and Tik Tok about an issue involving toxic waste-water in Florida.  Water is leaking out of a reservoir that was an old phosphate mine that has since been filled up with water and become toxic waste-water. This should have not gotten so bad but people chose to ignore the problem of the toxic reservoir for a decade. They think the lining that was placed on the inside of the reservoir, that was not supposed be placed in the first place, broke and caused the water to break through the ground and make a hole leading to a creek stream. 3,450 million gallons of water was in the reservoir and is now at a fast pace, coming to the outside. The water is not radioactive but is containing nitrogen and ammonia, which are toxic chemicals. The chemicals might not have a huge affect on humans but will most likely have the biggest affect in the marine life in the Gulf. They have had to evacuate 1,000 plus people out of t...

Water scarcity

Image
Rasmus Svensson Water scarcity  Even if we all think that we have an unlimited resource of clean water, it’s wrong. 70% of the earth is water but only 3% of it is clean water, otherwise the rest of it is either in the glaciers or it’s not usable for the humankind. On earth 1.1 billion people lack of water asses, 2.7 billion people find water scarce for at least one month of the year. 2.4 billion people are exposed to diseases from inadequate sanitation. The Rivers, the lakes are drying up or becoming too polluted to use because of the human activity. Agriculture utilize more water than any other source and wastes much of that water. Because there are a lot of dries out all over the world, it affects the climate change. If it continues like this, it can only get worse. Because of pollution, agriculture and population growth.

Less predictable precipitation patterns

Image
Ahram Solis Global warming is making a shift to the water cycle and is affecting prescription badly. The unpredictable precipitation likely the cause of droughts and flooding, which are more common coming every year. The article says,”  This process may help account for the California droughts of 2011 and 2017 and the 2012 to 2013 drought that impacted much of North America.” This just shows the consequences of what extreme precipitation does and cause damage to people’s lives. All these climate-related disasters are causing billions lost to rebuilding from flooding and dead crops from droughts. https://www.acclimatise.uk.com/2019/10/02/the-impact-of-global-warming-on-water/

The Nature Conservancy

Image
Hannah Bailey  With the amount of chaos our world contains, we have to remember there are things out there that want to improve our world. That includes land conservation. The Nature Conservancy is one of many non profitable organizations that are taking a stand to protect our natural landscapes and habitats. This organization doesn’t only set out to protect land, they also stand to protect our water. The Nature Conservancy states that their priorities are “tackle climate change, protect land and water, provide food and water sustainably, and build healthy cities.” This is a great organization that has multiple different goals that they want to achieve. One of the habitats that they have successfully protected is Great Bear Rainforest located in British Columbia. It is important to have organizations like this one in order to keep hope alive. With global warming increasing, we need to conserve as much land that hasn’t been mutated and water that hasn’t been polluted as possib...

What's Plastic Farming

Image
In the society we live in today we hear all about how plastic is bad and how you should refrain from using any plastic products. But there is a company and now a research project on how to work plastic production in agriculture and farming. This idea comes from making  an engineered seed and would result in harvesting plastic polymers. I think if this could be figured out and done safely without harming nature and food production it could really be a different take and a new way of producing food. All though there is still a lot of science needed to figure out how to make this a safe production it seems that this could become a part of a new farming era and could possibly change agriculture as a whole. Coming up with this biodegradable plastic could be the newest and best technology. What do you think will happen if this becomes a new way of farming?

What is the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services about?

Image
What is the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services about? Nicole Price   The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services' purpose is to  work with others to enhance, protect, and conserve fish, plants,  wildlife, and their habitats for the continual benefit of the American people. They're the only agency in the federal government working on conservation for the benefit of the people. The fish and wildlife services also happen to be one the oldest programs to focus on natural resource conservation. They are responsible for implementing some of the U.S.'s biggest environmental laws, the migratory bird treaty, and the endangered species act to name a few. These responsibilities are obtained via a number of different activities, offices, and programs that work to:  Help fulfill our government's federal tribal trust responsibility; Recover and/or protect threatened species;  Restore importan...

Oh no, not our land!

Image
Jessica Seaton, Our land is constantly being polluted all over the world. Liquid and solid waste materials are being thrown on the land or buried below the surface contaminating the soil. The different types of pollutions are landfills, which I mentioned in one of my previous blogs, this is a big one because waste is being buried in the soil and all the chemicals are damaging it. Then, there is industrial activity such as coal productions, hazardous waste where liquid, solids or litter that is poisonous to the land.  The last one is deforestation which is the removal of trees to use for different things for humans. There are all types and different    sources damaging our land that we could easily fix. This article had a lot of fun facts about land pollution, a few of the ones I found most interesting are: “80% of dead birds have some form of plastic waste in their stomach” “The planet loses 24 billion tonnes of topsoil each year because of land pollution” “China pr...

Harvesting Energy From Radio Waves to Power Wearable Electronic Devices?!?

There is a study By Penn State saying that is there a possibility of using the Waves of energy created by the Radio to power our Wearable Devices such as A FitBit or an Apple Watch. They told reporters they don't think that this would be a replacement to any big energy gains but they hope to provide additional consistent energy. these self-powered devices only work however for now as long as the body is in motion. So If your working out and want to keep the music on and want to use it as motivation then maybe this is the Best thing for you!  One of the main things Cheng The Lead Scientist has said "if We don't use this ambient energy around us its simply wasted" I couldn't agree more why not use this form of energy that is being used everyday by millions to also give us a constant source of energy https://scitechdaily.com/harvesting-energy-from-radio-waves-to-power-wearable-electronic-devices/

Toxic gasses in water

Image
Teagan Lovin 04/5/21  Toxic gasses Our water that we drink and use for everything in our life has been polluted by gasses. One of those gasses is nitrogen. Nitrogen is put in the water by fertilizers that we use to grow our plants. This nitrogen suffocates animals that live in the water and also polluted the water that we drink making it undrinkable. Another problem is that we have too little oxygen in our water due to pollution taking away the oxygen. The lack oxygen in the water causes for fires on the water. There is a concept call BOD which measure the oxygen levels in the water, and the BOD has gone down in oxygen levels in the water drastically over the past couple years due to increase pollution in the water. https://news.un.org/en/story/2019/08/1044551
